Planning a compact kitchen
An L-shaped kitchen was designed for a small apartment. The cabinetry, appliances and storage systems were planned before fabrication.

About the design
Drawers and under-sink storage
The kitchen uses IKEA metal drawers. A U-shaped drawer beneath the sink provides storage around the plumbing.
Access to the corner
A pullout semicircular basket provides access to items stored deep inside the corner cabinet.
Boiler and pantry cabinet
The gas boiler is concealed in a separate pantry cabinet with a JUMBO pullout shelving system. Access is retained for boiler servicing and to the inspection opening containing the water supply valves.
Appliances in tall units
The large refrigerator, oven and dishwasher are arranged in the tall-unit area. Their placement was considered during the kitchen design.
Condition at the time of photography
The photographs show a gas pipe in the corner. After the kitchen was installed, the client had this pipe removed.
